  • Dueck Cadillac Launch Party

    Sports, cars and fashion – it was all a part of the recent Dueck GM / Cadillac launch party. VIP guests were greeted with black tie service as all the sales staff were dressed to the nines and looking good! Then the big event – partnering with Vancouver Fashion Week, the new Cadillac models were unveiled as real life models walked the catwalk. Highlights also included speeches by noted BC Lions and Canucks celebrities.

     

  • Deighton Cup 2014 at Hastings Park Vancouver

    It has to be one of the most colourful and fashionable events in Vancouver. Add in the bow ties, fanciful hats, champagne VIP lounge, luxury cars and horse racing and it’s easy to see why it’s also one of the hottest parties of the summer. The Deighton Cup, produced by the good folks at The Social Concierge, was held last weekend at Hastings Park. Local celebs and socialites were easy to find as they placed their bets from luxury sky suites adjacent to the track. Live music, savoury snacks, cigars and mint juleps rounded out the experience. Congrats to everyone involved.

  • Vancouver BMW Store i8 Electric Car Launch Party

    It’s an electric car star already, and it just hit the road. So what better way to welcome a celebrity vehicle than with an all-out, over the top, glamorous garage party. The BMW Store in Vancouver pulled out all the stops to turn their vehicle warehouse into a nightclub/ultra-lounge to welcome the new BMW i8 onto the scene. Guests were treated to food and libations as well as fun and frisky live entertainment and music – all in honour of the newest super car that everyone is talking about.

  • Brian Jessel 2014 Cabriolet Gala

    Brian Jessel may be known for his luxury car dealerships, but he is also known for throwing some of Vancouver’s best charity parties. The Cabriolet Gala is one of the hottest parties of the year and in the past has featured names like Jay Leno, CeeLo Green, Colin James and the Barenaked Ladies. This year it was time for high fashion to take centre stage as designer Gianni Maanaki showed off his spectacular haute couture line. It was also a night to unveil the new BMW i8 car which was definitely a show stopper. Guests also enjoyed food and drinks courtesy of some of Vancouver’s top restaurants and a live and silent auction filled with super glamorous items. All donations received and fundraising activities in support of Pancreatic Cancer Canada.

  • Harry Hamlin, Terrence Howard, Billy Baldwin Headline Celebrity Variety Car Rally in Vancouver

    Hollywood celebrities, sports stars and some of Vancouver’s most beautiful people were all putting the pedal to the metal last weekend as the Variety for Kids rally hit the streets of town. Headed up by honourary co-chairs Kyle & Janelle Washington, the two-day adventure saw each team/car raise $25,000+ each to support the kids. Then, it was time to draft your celebrity driver and head out on the highway. Think “Amazing Race” meets scavenger hunt. The big kick-off party was held at the new Coal Harbour Cactus Club where everyone parked their luxury cars and then walked the red carpet for the cameras. Inside, it was nothing but good fun as celebs met their teams, posed for pics and enjoyed amazing food and drinks courtesy celebrity chef Rob Feenie and his crew.

  • Regency Lexus Luxury Gala Opening

    Vancouver’s Ahamed family is well known for their generosity and philanthropy with many charity events in Vancouver. They are also well known for their Regency automobile empire which includes brands like Toyota, Volkswagen, Infiniti, Nissan and Lexus. Last week, at the opening of their new Regency Lexus flagship store on Burrard, the family welcomed dignitaries, celebs and VIP guests to share in the special event. Black tie butlers greeted guests as everyone was handed a special passport card to tour the new facilities. Among them, the new “butler” car service. There was also a Yamaha piano lounge and special ribbon cutting ceremony. The most touching moment of the night came when the family made a heartfelt donation to BC Children’s Hospital for $20,000. Congrats everyone!

  • Variety Celebrity Car Rally for Kids

    Variety – the Children’s Charity is well known for their ability to raise support for kids everywhere. But last week, on the heels of a very successful “Show of Hearts” telethon, the organization held a special VIP party of a different kind. Now it’s time to suit up and start your engines for the 2014 Variety Rally for Kids with Special Needs. Sponsored by West Vancouver’s Washington family and their new EBoost energy product, this night is just the first in a series of spectacular events leading up to the two-day rally later this year.   • Porsche Vancouver Opening Night Gala

    There is no substitute – It’s one of the most famous tag lines in the world and it belongs to none other than Porsche motorcars. Known for their speed and beauty, the iconic car is driven by millionaires and famous folks alike. It seems only fitting then that MCL Motorcars (Dilawri Group) invited the who’s who of Vancouver to join them for their Porsche Vancouver gala opening night. You couldn’t image a more beautiful showroom. Also on display was an impressive display of cars dedicated to the 50 years of the 911. Lots of famous North Shore faces were also in the crowd to help celebrate as were several company VIPs from Germany.

  • Luxury Supercars in Vancouver

    It was called Luxury Supercar Weekend, but it has actually been a week long event consisting of parties, launches, dinners and more. Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari and Rolls Royce were all part of the mix as the supercars rolled into town to show off their wheels. And car lovers everywhere were in heaven as they got a chance to choose and schmooze at events all over town. The week of excess came to close with the biggest party of them all at the Concours d’Elegance two-day affair where prizes were handed out for the best of the best. Congrats to everyone involved.

  • Vancouver Bentley Flying Spur Launch Event

    It was cocktails, jazz, champagne and music at the Dilawri Group’s recent 2014 Bentley Flying Spur launch event. Held at the amazing Shangri-La Hotel, the event included invites for some of Vancouver’s best known businessmen and luxury car lovers. The theme was “The Great Gatsby” and came complete with Veuve Cliquot, canapes, cocktails, live music by the Max Zipursky trio and, of course, the star of the show – the 2014 Flying Spur. Hosts from both Bentley Vancouver and MCL Motor Cars were on hand to welcome guests as everyone toasted the occasion in style.

  • Vega Club 23rd Annual Picnic North Vancouver

    Nothing says summer like a good old fashioned show-and-shine car event. And while car owners everywhere pull out the Turtle Wax to spit polish their collector chrome, a small select group of enthusiasts gathered in North Vancouver to toast one of the rarer breeds of automobiles. The Lower Mainland Vega Club got a perfect sunny day for their 23rd Annual Vega Club Picnic event at Waterfront Park. And as they popped their hoods and fired up the grill, it was only a matter of moments before classic car lovers started to appear with their cameras to take a photo with some of the sexy 70s models from a day gone by.

    02 – Originally from North Vancouver, Darren Trim and his red hot ’76 Vega have fond memories of driving through the hood.

Featuring a live performance by “The Voice” star and musician CeeLo Green, the evening helped raise funds for Arts Umbrella, Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation and the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.   • Vancouver Luxury Supercar Weekend and Borden Ladner Gervais 100 Year Celebration

    adam_eli.jpg It was a legal who’s who last week as the good folks at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, one of Canada’s largest law firms, celebrated their 100 year anniversary. Cocktails and conversation were only the start as guests enjoyed five-star service at the Vancouver Convention Centre complete with entertainment by North Shore singing ensemble Aliqua and a live tugboat water ballet by Washington Marine group. Dignitaries and guests were also treated to a cake cutting ceremony and a display of memorabilia that traced the company’s impressive history. Also last week, the Luxury Supercar event weekend rolled into town and kicked things into high speed with a week long gear-up that included the launch of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, a high society lounge party in the park to celebrate Mercedes-Benz’s 125 year anniversary and a weekend of luxury cars and stars for the public to come see and dream about. Never before seen automobiles, including the electric Tesla supercar and a stunning burnt orange gull-winged McLaren, were on show along with Ferrari, Porsche, Rolls-Royce and more. The show stopper however had to be the Bugatti Veyron – yours for a mere $2.2 million dollars.

  • Red Robinson, Canucks Willie Mitchell, Hotel Georgia and Formula One Race Cars in Vancouver

    willie_mitchelle_canucks.jpg As we say goodbye to August, it’s time for a quick look back at some events that helped make the month memorable. First, North Vancouver’s Regency Auto Group / Regency Infiniti held the F1 Vancouver Reign event. Featuring the Red Bull F1 show car, and a selection of other rare Nissan / Infiniti built vehicles, the night included music and munchies all in support of Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Next, a Vancouver icon reopened its doors with a splashy and stylish reception. The new Rosewood Hotel Georgia is showing off its stripes and among its new additions is a 4th floor rooftop courtyard ultra lounge called “Reflections”. Complete with lounge chairs, couches and water fountain river features built right into the floor, the space is bound to attract a lot of attention from the after work cocktail crowd. Save me a seat! And lastly, Vancouver rock-n-roll legend Red Robinson, after an abrupt format change by Fun FM radio, announced this week that he is back on the airwaves again, this time with a four-hour Sunday segment on AM650 Radio.

  • Rolls-Royce Vancouver Spirit of Ecstasy Centenary Gala Celebration in Vancouver

    Can you name the sexy figure with wings who only rolls with celebrities, royalty or the very very wealthy? If you said Rolls-Royce’s “The Spirit of Ecstasy”, then you’d be right. The silver hood ornament, created by sculptor Charles Sykes, has adorned every Rolls-Royce since February 1911 and this year, the company is celebrating her 100 year anniversary with some very swanky city to city parties. West Vancouver’s elite were invited to commemorate this milestone recently at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Vancouver. The night included food from C Restaurant, libations from Belvedere Vodka, and live music from Ten Souljers. It was an evening of luxury, beauty and elegance as everyone got a chance to glimpse cars from Rolls-Royce’s Spirit of Ecstasy Centenary Collection. Me, I’ll take the convertible black one please.

  • Barenaked Ladies and Celebs at Brian Jessel BMW Cabriolet Fundraiser

    What happens when you put high fashion, luxury sports cars and celebrities together in one room? The answer is the 6th annual Brian Jessel BMW Cabriolet Charity Gala. Supporting pancreatic cancer research at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), this night featured both silent and live auction items, food and beverage stations (provided by some of Vancouver’s best known restaurants) and a live performance by Canada’s own Barenaked Ladies who rocked the house till midnight. Some of the North Shore’s famous faces walked the red carpet alongside the city’s beautiful people who all came out to support this very worthwhile cause.

  • Bard on the Beach, Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival, Vancouver Auto Show and More

    A wrap-up of spring events this week means a look back at several great nights and a few famous North Shore faces. First, the Vancouver Auto Show had its most successful year ever and kicked off their week long event with a first-of-its kind introductory evening gala. Hanging in the VIP room here was a lot of fun and so was the stroll through super car lane which featured cars like Lamborghini, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Maserati and Spyker. Also, the Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival (VPIWF) welcomed folks from all over the world with its week long list of activities. Wine makers dinners, luncheons, seminars and the much heralded grand tasting room events meant there was something for every grape lovers in the lower mainland. Rounding out the mix was a special Japan tsunami fundraiser by a caring local restaurateur and a fabulous private Bard on the Beach reception at the elegant home of Canaccord founder Peter Brown and his wife Joanne.

    Cool cars and funky fashions seem to go hand in hand, especially last week when two great local events ensured a stylish look for all. First up, North Shore BMW, at the North Shore Auto Mall, introduced the newest members of their X Series line at a elegant dealership reception. The sparkling white BMW X1 SUV/crossover was the star of the show as guests got a chance to see it unveiled for the very first time. Next it was a full on girls night out at West Vancouver’s Hollyburn Country Club as Pilar’s held their Viva La Moda – West Vancouver Spring 2011 Fashion Show. Runway reveals had everyone thinking spring and no one went home empty handed thanks to a plethora of fabulous prize giveaways.

  • Vancouver International Auto Show

    Porsche, Mercedes, Range Rover, Ferrari, Jaguar – all the big names are there. The Vancouver International Auto Show, the premier automotive showcase in Western Canada, is on all this week at BC Place Stadium. The event started last Monday night with a fabulous black-tie “sneak peek” gala in support of Special Olympics and featured a diamond draw, scavenger hunt and the “Salespersons of the Year” awards.   • Hot Rod Saturday in West Vancouver

    Fords, Chevys, Model-Ts and more lined the streets of Park Royal Village in West Vancouver this past weekend as Hot Rod Saturday got everyone’s motor running. Presented in part by the BC Hot Rod Association and the North Shore Outlook, the day was a car lovers dream come true. Fuzzy dice and fancy paint jobs were the norm as the parking lot was transformed into a rainbow of colours and chrome and proud owners posed with their pride and joys of yesteryear.

    01 – The Hikida Stephens race team, featuring owners/drivers Bob Stephens and Tom Whiffin, draw a big crowd with their 2,000 hp, 1966 dragster.

    02 – West Vancouver’s Ron Price is looking nice in his always stylish 1966 Shelby Cobra in classic navy blue.

    03 – This blue beauty is the belle of the ball – a 1954 Chevy Bel Air two door hardtop owned by the North Shore’s own Graeme Tait.

    04 – Henry Tjart’s orange 1936 Ford Roadster is one of only 3,000 ever made and comes equipped with rumble seat – wink wink.

    05 – The purple and white interior of Barry Watson’s beautiful 1950 Mercury coupe comes complete with plastic dice shifters and looks a little like a naughty night in Vegas.

    06 – Pete Graw’s mint green 1956 Ford F150 truck is a true original which he named “Last Date”. He, his wife and their Gorilla mascot travel the continent to take part in shows like this.

    07 – West Vancouver’s Denny Bromley is a proud 1923 Ford Model-T coupe owner. The car still has its old fashioned headlights that used to burn lamp oil and its wooden frame trunk.

  • Tom Cruise Car Crazy


    Actor Tom Cruise sure knows how to get attention on the talk show circuit. The 46-year old actor, who last made news for jumping on the furniture during his “Oprah” appearance, once again grabbed headlines this week as he gave talk show host Jimmy Kimmel one of the nicest Christmas gifts in town. 

    The gift exchange happened when Cruise, who was appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to talk about the Christmas Day release of his newest film “Valkyrie”, handed over the keys to a fabulous cherry red Cadillac SLR V8 adorned with a big golden bow. A surprised Kimmel then countered by giving Cruise a large tin of popcorn – which got an obvious planned laugh from the audience. (more…)
