  • Amica Helping Hands Gala Means Giving

Galas and giving go hand in hand at this time of the year. And never more so than with the great folks at Amica Mature Lifestyles and their Helping Hands Gala. Held at the Four Seasons hotel, guests were treated to a spectacular 70s themed evening complete with crazy costumes, auction items, live music and a 70s themed food event that featured specially made Cracker Jacks and Pop Tarts for dessert. Always known for fun, the evening is all about raising funds for the Helping Hands charity which supports low-income seniors during the holidays. In addition to the many social and wellness programs they support, monies also go to help fund passenger vans for seniors’ community groups and a heartwarming basket giving program that sees a holiday basket full of food, gift certificates and blankets delivered to seniors in need. Happy Holidays!

  • BC Cancer Diamond Ball and Barenaked Ladies VIP Night

barenaked_ladies.jpgIf they had a million dollars . . . well, they do – and a lot more. So it’s only fitting that the Barenaked Ladies help with the VIP opening night party of Vancouver’s newest multi-million dollar property – The Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel. Invited guests were treated to a private concert last week in the lobby of the richly elegant building which is bound to be the new hangout for famous faces. Also last week, it was time for ball gowns and black ties at the BC Cancer Society’s Diamond Ball Gala at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Entitled “Ole”, a $400 ticket to the 14th annual event featured live entertainment, auctions and more for this very worthwhile cause.

  • 22nd Annual Women’s Media Golf

Sure, it’s all about the fun and the fairways, but when it comes time to making a kids’ dream come true, these gals go for the green. West Van’s Wendy Cocchia is the powerhouse behind The 22nd Annual Women’s Media Golf Classic and she knows firsthand how hard it can be to raise a child with special needs. The after reception party, which was held at her and husband Sergio’s Beyond Restaurant and Lounge in the Century Plaza Hotel, is always a celebration of life, but never more than this year. Dream Wishes granted this year included a trip to Disneyland for Chantal and a newly trained PADS golden lab dog for Jake – and tears of joy for everyone in attendance. (more…)
