CampOut 2014, a UBC initiative supporting queer, trans and allied youth in B.C., is celebrating its fifth year. With a mission to “create an empowering camping experience by providing practical, social, spiritual, educational, health and leadership tools in an inspiring and welcoming space”, the program invites young people aged 14 – 21 from all over the province to meet like-minded individuals and enjoy a safe and fun outdoor environment. Yesterday, at the palatial home of West Vancouver’s Heidi and Richard Coglon, invited guests took part in a special fundraising event. Hosted by Louise Cowin, VP of Students, and Dean of Education Blye Frank, the evening also included a keynote speech by special guest and author Amber Dawn.
