There were no pirates, but there was rum and a live salsa band at a very special tall ship reception celebrating the arrival of one very special group. VIPs and dignitaries were warmly welcomed aboard the Buque Escuela Guayas Thursday night as she sailed into North Vancouver's Burrard Dry Dock pier. The crew of 150, which included three female officers, sailed from Ecuador aboard the navy training ship which is a on a goodwill tour to both Victoria and Tokyo. The dance floor was full as everyone tried the salsa and the merengue and every lucky lady aboard had the privilege of dancing with both an officer and a gentleman.
