It was lights, camera and all kinds of action last week as the 27th Vancouver International Film Festival raised the curtain on two upcoming weeks of parties and premieres. First up, the Brightlight Pictures Red Carpet Party at Cin Cin Restaurant on Robson was where A-Listers gathered to sip wine and sample canapes and more. Sponsored by company principles, Shawn Williamson and Stephen Hegyes, the evening lived up to tradition by getting things started on the right note. The official start of the festival party however was held later that same night at the Vancouver Aquarium where guests attended and enjoyed live music, libations and food after the premiere screening of Fernando Meirelles' movie "Blindess". Next up, director Charles Martin Smith, who is best known for starring opposite Sean Connery and Kevin Costner in "The Untouchables", received a standing ovation for the premiere of his new movie "Stone of Destiny". Being Scottish myself, I may be biased, but the stand-up-and-cheer feel of this movie is well worth seeing again on Oct. 8 if you get the chance. Lastly, Insight Film Studios Ltd. in cooperation with Jet Set Crew, threw their big bash at the Edgewater Casino Saturday night. Marking the official closing of the VIFF Film and TV Forum, this red carpet event featured lots of familiar faces including The Fonz himself - Henry Winkler. Aaaay - Cool! Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.
If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks. |
