THEY say a picture is worth a thousand words - and goodness knows I'm all about pictures - but for many struggling with literacy, those words sometimes don't come so easily. Thankfully, the folks at Literacy BC are there to support those trying to learn to read and write. Their Literacy and Beyond gala event took place last week with a spectacular wine and dine evening that included fabulous food by Beyond Restaurant and Lounge, live auction items and vino, vino, vino. Senator Larry Campbell took to the podium as auctioneer and, with a song in his heart, even managed to coax guests into outbidding themselves for this very worthwhile cause. Meanwhile, the sun continues to shine on one of Vancouver's favourite foodie institutions. Joe Fortes restaurant opened its fabulous new rooftop deck earlier this month. Despite some harsh new bylaws, the four-star service by some of this city's best staffers continues to make this THE place to be seen to stare at the stars.

Vancouver's best events and celebrity functions are all archived here. Vancouver pubs, clubs, nightclubs, gala events and fundraisers are included. Thanks for viewing.
Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.
If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks. |
