Do you remember Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole? Well, the Filippone family does. This famous foursome (brothers Joe, Ross, Mickey and Jimmy) started the Penthouse nightclub back in 1947 when the era was swinging and the parties were posh and lavish. In its day, it was THE superstar supper club to see and be seen as the autographed celeb photos on the wall will prove. Times may have changed, but the memories live on, as does the Filippone name thanks to second generation impresario Danny Filippone. Last Saturday, he transformed the now exotic dance club back into its former self in memory of his dad, and in celebration of the club's 60th anniversary. And speaking of anniversaries, congratulations also goes out this week to businesswoman, philanthropist and spa sensation Wendy Cocchia. As owner of the Absolute Spa empire, she celebrated its 10 year anniversary with a special, invite-only, pamper party for friends and fans that included diamond giveaways and relaxation massages. Ohm . . mygosh!

Vancouver's best events and celebrity functions are all archived here. Vancouver pubs, clubs, nightclubs, gala events and fundraisers are included. Thanks for viewing.
Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.
If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks. |
