A look back at last year shows us that Vancouver really did shine, both with award winning celebs and charity fundraisers galore. Here are my picks for the Best of 2006.
Catherine Barr, Vancouver's celebrity events reporter and photographer, is supported online by CLR Communications Ltd, westvancouver.com , northvancouver.com and vancouverview.com
Vancouver's best events and celebrity
functions are all archived here. Vancouver pubs, clubs, nightclubs,
gala events and fundraisers are included. Thanks for viewing.
Due to server capacity, you will
not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs.
With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would
quickly exceed the amount of memory needed. If you would like to receive a copy
of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the
details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number
and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for
security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures
to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo.
Thanks. |

Best Small Celebrity Gala: The Cin Cin Brightlights Pictures gala is always held just before the start of the Vancouver International Film Festival in September and features local celebs like actors Sonya Salomaa (left), a Leo award winner for "The Collector", and Joely Collins, famed daughter of musician Phil Collins. |
|
Best Single Celebrity Fundraiser: Canadian actor Dan Aykroyd was spotted everywhere last April as part of his Patron Tequila promotion, but none were as important to him as the Canucks Place Hospice fundraiser at the Commodore, which he promoted single-handedly. |
|
Best Large Celebrity Gala: Comedian Bill Cosby joked and laughed with everyone at Feenie's restaurant as owners David and Manjy Sidoo, along with chef Rob Feenie, welcomed David Foster, Clay Aiken, Michael Buble and more famous friends in September. |
|
Best Large Awards Show: For the first time ever in Canada, the Gemini Awards were held here in Vancouver at the River Rock Casino in November. Celebs, like Gemini award winning sweethearts Brent Butt and Nancy Robertson, took home the goods. |
|
Best Small Awards Show: Actually, the Leo Awards, held in May every year, are a really big deal. Honouring the best in BC film and television, the awards always bring out famous faces like local talent agent Richard Lucus and Battlestar Galactica / Canada's Next Top Model host and Leo Award winner Tricia Helfer. |
|
Best Weekend Party : If you haven't ventured north to Whistler during early November for "Cornucopia", you're missing out. Andre St. Jacques famous "Moulin Rouge" party at the Bearfoot Bistro and Araxi's "Bubble, Jazz and the Sea" are only some of the extra events you can take in when you finish at the big "Crush" annual tasting event.
