The eighth annual Leo Awards took place May 12-13 at the Westin Bayshore Vancouver. The awards, which "celebrate excellence In British Columbia film and television", are a project of the Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Foundation of British Columbia, and are produced by Troika Productions Inc. and Events One. They have become a highly anticipated event that draws lots of famous faces out onto the red carpet. Presenters and nominees alike get caught up in the glitz and glam as they honour their peers and vie for a coveted Leo statuette in an industry that provided over 15,000 jobs and generated approx. $1 billion in economic activity in 2005 alone. The evening receptions also featured the "Fashion and Film" designer showcase where guests could browse and bid on designer outfits created by local and international designers.

Producer Walter Daroshin (left) and partner Sonny Wong ARE the Leo Awards. Without their faith and hard work the industry would be a little less glamorous. Seen here with Walter's wife Tina and son Misha, the evening was a fabulous success and I can't wait to do it all over again next year.
