BC Restaurant Hall of Fame Gala

May 8, 2006

By Catherine Barr

The British Columbia Restaurant Hall of Fame may still be relatively new, but the honours it bestows are steeped in history. Conceived in 2004, the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame committee consists of 60 "prominent industry veterans" who annually recognize outstanding individuals and their achievements or contributions to the B.C. restaurant community. Last year, the 2005 list of 16 names included pioneers like Nat Bailey (White Spot) and George Tidball (Keg Restaurants). This year, the 2006 list includes another 14 individuals who have been chosen by their peers. The gala dinner and awards night was held last Monday at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre where honoured guests and inductees enjoyed an evening of memories and more. All inductees' names will now forever stand in the permanent home of the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame located at the downtown campus of the Vancouver Community College - Hospitality School.

Catherine Barr, Vancouver's celebrity events reporter and photographer, is supported online by CLR Communications Ltd, westvancouver.com , northvancouver.com and vancouverview.com

Vancouver's best events and celebrity functions are all archived here. Vancouver pubs, clubs, nightclubs, gala events and fundraisers are included. Thanks for viewing.

Due to server capacity, you will not be able to access or click through to the larger photographs. With over 250,000 unique visits each month, our site would quickly exceed the amount of memory needed.

If you would like to receive a copy of a photograph, then please send an email and enclose the details of the event, the date, the name, the photo number and the names of the people in the photograph. Also, for security reasons, I prefer not to email copies of pictures to anyone other than the people who are actually in the photo. Thanks.

North Vancouver's Tomahawk Barbecue is a legend in these parts thanks to Chick Chamberlain's legacy. Son Chuck Chamberlain was only too pleased to accept a 2006 Hall of Fame "Pioneer" award on behalf of his father who started the biz back in 1926.
