Former NVC Councillor John Braithwaite
may have retired last year, but he is still very much in
the spotlight. Last Monday night, during a special ceremony
at city hall, the long-serving politician was honoured with
the "Freedom of the City" in front of a crowd of friends
and family. The always affable Braithwaite now joins an elite
club of 13 key-holders who will be forever honoured for opening
the doors of opportunity in our city.
The 18th Annual Gemini Awards were
handed out this past weekend in Toronto and there were lots
of wild western faces in the crowd. But before boarding the
plane out east, our local guys and gals were recognized at
a special celebration put on by the Academy of Canadian Cinema
and Television. The Western Nominee Reception was held on
Oct 15 at the Fairmont Waterfront hotel where, as they say,
getting nominated already makes you a winner.
