Dundarave
Christmas Trees |

WEST Vancouver Mayor Ron Wood was just one of the dignitaries present last week as the Dundarave Beach House threw the switch on their annual Festival of Lights display. The countdown began shortly after 5 p.m. as peopled gathered outside the restaurant to hear the choir, sip on hot chocolate and see the trees light up. However the real action took place inside the restaurant as tree sponsors and their families were invited to a special reception. Beach House co-owner John Withers and son Dave were on hand to greet guests as was John's partner, Doug Mason, who, about seven months ago, became the proud daddy of a new baby girl. Still, in my opinion, no one looked lovlier than West Van's Lenora Gates who, along with her family, came to celebrate more than just Christmas lights. The vibrant mother of two, who has a thriving commercial real estate business of her own, was struck with cancer earlier this year and has recovered beautifully with a whole new lease on life. Kinda helps remind you what Christmas is all about -- family. So come on down to the pier at 25th Street, see the trees, vote for your favourite and help raise funds for the Harvest Project. |
