Coho Festival

IT was a bit soggy this year at Ambleside Park as the Coho Festival and its volunteers set up their tents and barbecues on Sunday Sep. 8. But it takes more than a little rain to scare these folk, so the event went on as planned starting with the morning run/walk, then an afternoon filled with demonstrations, music, food and wet, wet, fun. Celebrity chefs manned the grills throughout the day, the bands played on, and some hearty souls even did a little dancing in the rain. The firefighters, who are always on hand to help, are used to getting wet and, well, kids think puddles are great fun. Overall, attendance was down, but the smiles weren't. Check it out for yourself.

Global TV news anchor and celebrity chef Jill Krop didn't mind the rain. She took shelter at the grill alongside NVD Mayor Don Bell (left), NVD Coun. Doug MacKay-Dunn and NVC Coun. Bob Fearnley.

West Van's chief of police, Grant Churchill, and West Van Mayor Ron Wood braved the elements to do their part at the barbecue.

Despite the weather, the Coho Festival is truly a family affair. Just ask Suzanne Soprovich, son Sammy and West Van Coun. Bill Soprovich.

He got his salmon the hard way. Taking a bite out of a model coho was Levi Timmermans, DFO program officer.

Look who was manning the beer tent. That's Reiner Tecklenburg, the NS News' newly blonde editorial assistnat Sharon Cocomile and Ken Parker.
