Chinese New Year

GUNG Hay Fat Choy - or Happy New Year. Right now we are in the midst of a special celebration of family, health, happiness and good fortune. Chinese New Year started yesterday with the New Moon (on the first day of the new year) and will end 15 days later on the full moon. It's a celebration that more and more people, regardless of their heritage, are learning to appreciate. Such was the case at North Van's St. Stephen's church this past Saturday night as a sold-out evening of food, fun and festivities took place in honour of the Year of the Horse. It's an event that organizers hope to continue year to year, and judging by the popularity of the night, they'll have no trouble at all. |
