Chili Cookoff

AROMA, colour, consistency, taste and aftertaste were the five elements being judged on Aug. 3 as the Texas based Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) held their CASI Chili Cookoff at Lonsdale Quay Market. Cooks from all over North America took part in the contest which was part of the market's ongoing 2002 Summer Festival. Now, there's rules to this game and the recipies are traditional. That means no beans, onions or veggies - just beef and sauce. Local experts and food writers acted as judges and if you made a donation, you too could taste for yourself. All proceeds to the North Shore Mentally Handicapped.
