Venetian Ball

POWDERED wigs, lavish costumes and fine wines - this event had it all. The second annual Venetian Ball was held last Friday at the Terminal City Club in Vancouver and guests from all over the North Shore dressed up to attend. Benefitting the Italian Cultural Centre Society's renovation fund and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Vancouver, the evening came complete with wine tasting, dining, dancing, silent and live auctions and live music. Marco Polo himself greeted us at the door alongside Giovanni Bellini and Casanova. Then later, BCTV's Tony Parsons and CBC's Glorai Macarenko took over as hosts. It was a truly magnificent costume party.

West Van's Ian and Felicity Thomas glittered in gold as they opted for elegant evening wear instead of wigs and masks.

Devina and Paul Zalesky enjoyed kidding around with CBC News' Gloria Macarenko (right) who really took to her character and even spoke in Spanish.

Dr. and Mrs. R. Buonavita, the Consul General of Italy, were there to welcome everyone as dinner began. A fine collection of Italian wines were donated by them for the dinner.

Doug and Kim Gartland don't normally stroll around West Vancouver looking like this, but for one night this was the way to go.

Two elaborate pheasant feathered masks were what West Van's Bonnie and Kevin England were hiding behind.
