WV Lawn Bowling Open House - Catherine Barr

IT'S true when they say it's not as easy as it looks. In reality, lawn bowling is one tough, serious, competitive sport. Internationally, it is a well-recognized activity for all ages. Here in Canada, it has become a bit of a seniors' sport. But watch out, because last Sunday the members of the West Vancouver club threw open their doors to host a fun-filled and informative afternoon for everyone. When you start out, you're known as a Novice. Then, once you have your technique down pat, you advance up the ranks. And talk about civilized? The games would be nothing without the traditional tea break that accompanies each match. Great stuff.

Learning this new sport was great for these guys. "I didn't get into one fight," said Brad Moldowan (from right) as he posed with friends Yale Rosner, Matthew Waterhouse and Mike Hope.

How could you not enjoy being served by this smile? Julia Knowles was all giggles as she poured the tea.

President Audrey Whitaker and husband Monty always have fun. See if you can figure out where Monty wears his nametag (hint: look at his hat).
