Evenings in Edgemont Village - Catherine Barr

NORTH Vancouver's Edgemont Village really has a lot to offer. Just on an everyday basis, there is tons to do. But thanks to the 2nd Annual "Evenings in Edgemont", the entire community gets a chance to kick-up its heels and dance every weekend. Beginning last Friday, and running every Friday until August 18, there is a series of live music concerts held in the village square. Local merchants sponsor the events and everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE, comes out to enjoy themselves. From ages 1-100, it is truly a family affair. A big thanks to the sponsors: the North Shore Recreation Commission, the Village Merchants and our own NS News. Come on up and see for yourself.

"It's just fabulous," said Jan Khubyar (from left), Terry Giarardin and Pam Wetzel as they watched all the action.

Rusty Morrison (left) Pat Morrison (centre) and Steven Lyon were just a little backward in their ways. They all sat turned-around on their bench to get a better view of the band.

The event is a great excuse to take some time out with friends. From left: Fiona Campbell, Fiona Pryce and Iana Guess.

It's never too early to learn how to two-step. David Steverding will soon be chasing 14-month-old son Chad all over the place.

Somehow, Georg Koslowski always gets hugs from all the pretty gals. North Vancouver Rec Commission's Beth Ostlund was happy to oblige.

Full of energy, Kay Gilmour and John Marriott danced up a storm in the centre square and put the rest of us to shame.

Scooters are making a big comeback this year. This favourite of the fifites is really popular today with kids like (from left) Sarah Chaster, Roksan Yasman, Cole Polly and Mhairin Macdonald.

Working in the village is all part of the fun for Brett Pendleton (left) and Glen Jensen. Brett is also a solo musician whose new CD promises to introduce the world to a "new breed of rock."
