Edgemont Art Gallery

EDGEMONT Village's Bel Art Gallery is a perfect place for an intimate showing. But don't be fooled by size because some of the best things come in small packages. Such is the case this month as Janis Blyth, one of North Vancouver's most colourful artists, shows off her work. On Sept. 6, Janis invited a few close friends over to see what's happening and everyone was very impressed. Everything, from her watercolours to her painted furniture, was full of life and energy. Kind of like Janis herself, who later said that people have always encouraged her to express herself in her own style. Catch her work at the gallery until Sept. 29.

Mark and Bev Matishak have been friends with Janis for close to eight years. "Her work is so vibrant," they said.
Stopping by for a quick "hi" was local art lovers Alden and Gilly Evans.
Gabrielle Tanner-Leopold lives in West Vancouver now, but she's originally from Berlin Germany. She is a friend of gallery owner Beatrice.
Art gallery assistant Betina Buten looked as pretty as a picture handing out refreshments to all of the guests.
West Vancouver's Cheryl and Peter Humphries have known Janis and her husband for 12 years now.

West Vancouver artist and firefighter Ross Penhall was accompanied by
daughter Sophie. He'll be travelling east in November for the Toronto Art Fair.
Trudy Duller and Karl Maru are very active in the community, especially when it comes to music and art.
Artist Teresa L'Hirondelle was happy to see fellow artist Beau Poesiat at the gallery. Beau also teaches art at the Silk Purse.
