HE was born William Frederick Cody in Iowa in 1846, but we know him
better as "Buffalo Bill Cody", one of the most colorful figures
of the Old West. He first earned the nickname at age 22 while hunting
and selling buffalo meat to the Kansas Pacific Railroad workers. He
was a trapper, a bullwhacker, a Colorado "Fifty-Niner", a Pony Express
rider (1860), wagonmaster, stagecoach driver, Civil War soldier, and
even hotel manager. In 1883, he started his famous Wild West Show in
Omaha and the rest, as they say, is history. Last weekend, his descendents
and relatives gathered here on the North Shore to hold the Cody Family
International Reunion. Local host Chris Funston arranged for a wonderful
weekend of events, including a ride to the top of Grouse Mountain for
a barbecue. It was a great chance for Cody relatives from all over to
get together in honour of the old man himself.

Kit Cody and wife Linda are true blue originals who actually
live in Cody, Wyoming. Buffalo Bill was Kit's great-grandpa,
a trait which also makes Kit the perfect reunion president.
