Sad news tonight as Vancouver Police confirm the death of Glee actor Cory Monteith.
The 31 year-old Canadian born star was staying at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, one of Vancouver’s newest and most popular hotels, when he failed to check out at his designated time Saturday. He had checked into the hotel on July 6th and police confirm that card key / fob entries to his room confirm he most probably returned to the room alone.
Hotel staff checked the room and called police upon finding the body.
At the news conference, police and coroner confirm that when they found the body at noon, he had been dead for several hours. Police also confirm that the cause of death was not apparent but that there are no indications of foul play. They declined to answer questions about any other items or evidence found in the room.
The entire incident comes on the heels of a false report of Monteith’s death which was apparently reported on Facebook and Twitter Friday July 12, 2013 and later confirmed as a hoax. The site MediaMass has since changed and manipulated their post (and the dates) which previously read “Monteith’s agents have confirmed he is alive and well”.
There are no further police updates expected until Sunday / Monday at the earliest.
